14 Jun Red Dot Payment Signs MOU With Finserve Africa At Enterprise Singapore Nairobi Centre Opening
Red Dot Payment (RDP) was invited by Enterprise Singapore (ESG) along with other Singapore companies to the opening of ESG’s new overseas centre in Nairobi, Kenya. The centre aims to help Singapore companies find and nurture business opportunities in East Africa.
At the opening event graced by senior government officials from Singapore and Kenya, RDP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Finserve Africa Limited, a Kenyan mobile virtual network operator and subsidiary of Equity Bank, to explore how alternative e-payment methods such as WeChat Pay and Alipay could benefit East African merchants.
RDP CEO Randy Tan signed the MOU together with Finserve Africa Director Jack Ngare.
“Africa is a region of great potential. The economies here are changing, internet access is growing, and more consumers will go online for goods and services. Tourists will also want to buy from African businesses. Red Dot Payment aims to be part of this fintech ecosystem here,” remarked Randy.
When asked about the likely areas for co-operation between African and Asian businesses, Jack said “This is already happening in the areas of trade, infrastructure development, manufacturing and so forth. We see the growth of this co-operation increasing considerably in the coming years.”
“Sino-Africa trade, tourism and cultural exchange is growing a rapid pace. With this MOU we aim to empower African businesses to accept payments from ever growing number of customers and businesses looking for trading partners and customers from China”, he added.
